What is a Snap-On Denture?
In this video, Dr. John Coolican, an experienced Wilkes-Barre implant dentist, discusses removable implant-retained dentures as an ideal alternative to traditional artificial teeth.
We have patients ask all the time, what are implant dentures? This is an example of what we call an overdenture, where we place four to six implants and create a new snap on denture. Mini dental implants can secure a new full or partial denture or fix problems of older dentures that don’t fit properly. Dental implants are placed at certain points along your jaw and then the denture is securely attached to the implants. This stabilizes the denture so no more covering up your whole palate or roof of your mouth.
We can actually cut out the palate and you can taste your food again and avoid the sensation of gagging that you have with your regular denture. This is a removable denture that must be removed daily for cleaning and then is snapped back into place by you. But no denture, glues, or adhesives will be necessary. There’s another option, which is an upgrade from the denture, and we call it the roundhouse that does not come in or out. This is a fixed cemented set of teeth.
It is made of porcelain and zirconia. It is very hard and durable and patients say it’s incredible. We get reviews all the time that they feel like they have their teeth again. It’s a totally life changing experience and we highly recommend this option.
